Principal's Corner
Dear Lori Mann Carey Staff and Families,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new principal of Lori Mann Carey Elementary School. My name is Percy Brown, Jr., and I was born and raised in South Madison, where my parents have lived for over 40 years. As a child, I played along Rimrock and Moorland Roads, growing up in Brighton Square Apartments. My first job after college involved working with youth at the Dane County Neighborhood Intervention Program, which was located at the very address of Lori Mann Carey. Becoming your principal feels like a homecoming for me, and I am honored to return to this vibrant community. My background in this area gives me a unique connection to the families and students of Lori Mann Carey Elementary.
With more than 20 years of experience in education as a teacher, administrator and advocate for equity, I am deeply committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment for all students. Throughout my career, I have held the belief that strong relationships are essential for strong schools. At Lori Mann Carey, I look forward to partnering with our dedicated staff, supportive families and outstanding students to build on the school’s proud traditions while pursuing academic excellence and the holistic development of each child. Together, we will ensure that every student at Lori Mann Carey feels seen, supported and challenged to reach their fullest potential.
In the coming weeks and months, I look forward to getting to know our school community better. I encourage open communication and invite you to share your feedback, questions and ideas. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, visit the school, or attend our back-to-school events—we are stronger when we work together.
I am genuinely excited about the year ahead and all that we will accomplish as a community. With your support and our combined efforts, I am confident that we can create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for our students.
With deep gratitude and anticipation,
Percy Brown, Jr.
Principal
